Emotional Intelligence: “Re-Present”

Today’s topic will be regarding Emotional Intelligence. The art of living in the present moment is one of the best way a person can fulfil their life. You should master it. In addition, it is an absolute skill to learn. This is a tool to be emotionally intact in your workplace.  

There are no bad emotions – they are only here to serve us, add power & meaning to our lives and for us to move forward.

A Simple Experiment

Let’s do a simple experiment. Think of something you would really like to have happened in the future. Close your eyes and hope it will occur. Did you see two different possibilities or options? How does hope feel? Besides, What does it feel like to experience hope? Now think of something you would like to have happened in your life in future but now you expect with certainty for it to happen – you know it will happen. Put your body in state of expectation. Visualize how does expectation feel like in your body? Apart from that, how is hope different from expectation? What’s the difference?

For most people when they see hope, they saw either something working out or not working out. Hoping is kind of passive. Expecting is really active.

So this simple experiment proves you can actually have control over your own emotions. For example loneliness. No one makes you lonely. Therefore, in reality you choose to have that feeling, that sensation in your body. It is not based on experience but how you ‘re-present’ using your 5 senses in your head. In short, that is the way you represent them that gives rise to the emotion.
