The difference between a leader and a manager is pointed out clearly in the above comparison table.  Malaysia soft skill training courses do provide theses information but does it help to mould a true leader? Think about it. 

One should instil these qualities to be a great leader like our own iconic prime minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. 

1. Leaders Think Longer Term

With strong leadership skill, they ensure the right things are done so an organization will thrive for today and the future. They focus and work with long range personal, team and the organization vision, mission and goals.

2. Leaders See Larger Context

See everything in terms of entire organization and beyond – good leaders should think even more global! They think of ways to fit in their areas of work or their departments and ensure the departments fir into the organization within the market place and how their markets are related to other industries and the economy.

3. Leaders Push Boundaries

They desire to find better alternatives, trying new ideas, implementing new procedures or policies, making improvements in order to strive ahead. They are not afraid to make changes by retiring old rules and inventing new procedures. They challenge and cross boundaries in their departments in order to make progress and take new territories. Leadership training ensures them to achieve this level. 

4. Leaders Put Emphasis on Intangibles

These include influence, morale, motivation, momentum, emotions, attitude, atmosphere and timing. To gauge such things, read between the lines. Be comfortable dealing with such things. They train themselves and are prepared to face some of the biggest challenges today. They own that skills and  are always on the look out to take advantage of current opportunities.

5. Leaders Invest Power in Others

Management training is about control – control costs, quality and efficiency. Leadership is not about controlling, it is about releasing. Look for good people and invest in them to point they can be released and empowered to perform. Better the leaders, more delighted they are to see members of their team finding their own new ways to get things done. They invest in capable and performing individuals by training them the required skills set.

7. Leaders As Agents of Change

They love innovation and desire new challenges. They expect more than just seeing progress – they want to help make it happen. Leadership skill is a moving target and it always will be. They understand that if they are to be highly respected and highly regarded as great leaders, they have to readily accept and embrace changes. They have to train the soft skills and learn to be comfortable with change.
